Kenton Bear gets painting for Newquay Rocks

We have all been busy here at the Kenton Guest house in Porth painting rocks for the latest craze sweeping through Cornwall, apparently it originates from New Zealand and Australia.  Our very own Mascot Kenton Bear has even been painting, although he seems to be doing lots of self-portraits! What a vain little bear…. still at least he is keeping out of trouble and taking advantage of the lovely sunshine.

The idea is to get anyone in Newquay, Cornwall and beyond involved searching for rocks, or you can paint some rocks yourself with whatever design you like, varnish them and go out and about around Cornwall hiding them for people to find, once found you need to photo them post them on Newquay Rocks Facebook page or Cornwall Rocks then re-hide them for someone else to find.  If one really take your fancy you can keep it but you need to replace it with another one so the stock of rocks keeps up.

It’s loads of fun for the whole family and so far they have been found in all sorts of places like,

  • in the parks
  • on the beach
  • coastal paths
  • train stations and even
  • inside post boxes and shops

People have even been taking them on holiday with them and hiding them all over the world.  Just another reason to come on holiday to Newquay and get painting and hiding some of your very own creations, maybe even take some home to hide.
